Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
AI shifts time, but in many cases is not a time saver. We have strict terms that govern how we do or do not use AI, giving you clear guardrails around its use. We know how to use AI to get the best out of it for you.
For:
• Legal: Incorrect phrasing can lead to liability.
• Tech: Terminology mistakes confuse users.
• Ecommerce: SEO misalignment = lost traffic.
• For everything else: It might just make up content, miss out huge chunks, get the context completely wrong or even consult too narrow a range of resources, producing a biased result.
That’s why we recommend AI + professional human oversight.
The more you prompt and orchestrate it, and the better inputs it receives, the better the output – but accuracy still lags behind fluency. AI sounds “natural” because it’s optimised for fluency, not truth – it’s just how its pattern-matching algorithms work. It can mistranslate names, nuances or phrases – and even consult incorrect information. It’s not a silver bullet – it’s a tool to get you started. We’re here to ensure it doesn’t hallucinate, inflate meaning or just quit on you and only deliver a third of the work.
And if you don’t understand the other language you’re working with, it can be difficult to tell what has been omitted or summarised to the detriment of accuracy and understanding.
AI shifts time, but in many cases is not a time saver. For documents to be read internally and to get the gist only, yes, but it still needs to be reviewed. But for public-facing content or contracts, one error can be costlier than the translation fee. It can even get the messaging of an entire article wrong. We’re here to help save you from these issues. We offer two services to help you get the most value for money out of MPTE: light post-editing and heavy post-editing. Get in touch to learn more.
This article explains all you need to know about the differences and more, but essentially:
Light copy-editing: Corrects grammar, spelling, punctuation, basic clarity and terminology to make content clear and usable, typically for internal use, reference materials, early-stage drafts and low-visibility support content.
Heavy copy-editing: Restructures and refines content to improve tone, flow, audience relevance and brand alignment, making it suitable for marketing materials, brand-facing communications and high-stakes or regulated content.
Absolutely! We offer MTPE (machine translation post-editing) or AIPE (artificial intelligence post editing) services to polish AI-generated drafts into final-quality deliverables. We can even take your output and then revise and polish it for you. We offer two services, depending on your needs: light post-editing and heavy post-editing. Get in touch to learn more.
We use CAT tools, and have done since 2005. They allow us to record all our work in a secure platform that only we can access. This enables us to look up how we phrased something in the past or to mine terms for contextual information.
The benefits for you are greater accuracy, consistency and the ability to utilise previously approved translations so you don’t have to pay twice for the same translation – but we always check to ensure the translation is correct contextually.
