The challenge

As part of a major FIFA World Cup activation – Visa’s Tap In Studio – Imagination needed to deliver a consistent and engaging digital experience across multiple markets. Content for the activation app needed to resonate with audiences in Canada and Mexico, with each locale requiring careful attention to language use, while remaining aligned with the overarching creative concept and brand objectives.

The project involved a diverse mix of content types, from user-facing app copy designed to build excitement and engagement to terms and conditions requiring a more formal and precise approach.

Our approach

We supported the Imagination team by assessing the content in context, identifying areas that required clarification and worked closely with the client to understand the purpose behind the app, the user journey and the intended audience experience. This discovery phase helped remove ambiguity early and ensured the localisation strategy was based on a clear understanding of the activation objectives.

To support the activation, we worked with our team of trusted, specialist in-market linguists (each team comprising a pairing of a translator and a revisor) based in Canada and Mexico. Their local presence gave them first-hand insight into the excitement and build-up around the tournament, helping them capture the energy of the event and reflect it naturally in their work.

Throughout each phase of project delivery, we maintained close coordination between Imagination’s London office and our regional localisation teams, working flexibly across time zones to keep the project moving efficiently. Acting as a central point of contact, we managed questions, feedback and revisions, providing a responsive and reliable service that helped stakeholders remain aligned while keeping the project on schedule.
